Sales Lead

Toronto – Full Time

Company Overview:

Parlay is an educational technology company that helps teachers facilitate meaningful class discussions. Our mission is to inspire the next generation of critical thinkers and thoughtful communicators.

Parlay is a new company. We were incorporated in 2016. Our beta ran from March – May of 2017 and the publicly available product has been in the market since September. Over 10 of the best independent schools in Canada are already paying Parlay for school-wide licenses. Trials are ongoing at roughly a dozen others.

We are selling more than just software. Our tools enable a methodology that pushes the boundaries of what education must become in the 21st Century and how we can use technology to get there. Here’s what some of our early customers have said:

Position Overview:

Parlay is looking for an experienced software sales executive that has broader ambitions of entrepreneurship and team leadership. We are looking for a hungry and enterprising individual that wants to help build a company with a lasting impact. You will be full one of the first full-time employees, and the first person at Parlay working in a full-time sales capacity. In the short term we need to build a pipeline and a dependable sales process; this will require someone with grit and resiliency. In the long term we need to scale; the will require someone with leadership and vision.

Core Activities (short term):

  1. Outbound Prospecting: email campaigns, cold calling etc.
  2. Lead Qualification
  3. Product Demos
  4. Managing customer trials
  5. Negotiating and closing deals

Core Activities (medium to long term):

  1. Shaping sales and pricing strategy
  2. Building out the sales team
  3. Building great relationships with customers
  4. Building great relationships with partners
  5. Shaping the product roadmap

Nice to Haves:

  1. Experience in education sector / education technology
  2. Experience working with marketing/sales automation tools
  3. Understands the culture of independent schools.


We want you to earn what you’re worth. This will be a mix of base pay, commission and equity when we raise Seed/Series A.
